Pick the early departure

The first rafts down each morning get the calmest, coolest water and the fewest other groups at the put-in and on the river. If a listing offers a choice of start times, take the earliest one — it makes a bigger difference to the experience than which operator's logo is on the raft.

The rapids are friendlier than they sound

Class II–III covers most of the ~10 km run: enough current to feel like a real rafting trip, not so much that it's intimidating for first-timers. A guide steers and calls the paddle commands throughout, so you don't need any prior experience — just a willingness to get wet and follow instructions.

Pack light, dress wet-ready, and stay for lunch

Swimsuit under quick-dry clothes, secure water shoes, and a dry bag if you want your phone with you. Leave anything valuable at the hotel. The buffet lunch at the end is part of the day, not an afterthought — most visitors are glad of it after two hours of paddling.
